Dr. Jesse Cradduck could only read a few words before the age of 30.
"School was hard for me. I'd put my head on the desk so they wouldn't ask me questions," says Dr. Cradduck.
The 59-year-old pastor does a lot of reading these days.
The shelves in his office are filled with books upon books.
Dr. Cradduck says, "I never dreamed I'd have a high school diploma. It was just too far fetched to think about."
The local pastor now has quite a list of credentials.
He has a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and even a doctorate's degree.
All of his degrees are in ministry.
But he still remembers how difficult it was for him when he couldn't read.
He left school in the seventh grade.
"I want people to know they can achieve anything," says Dr. Cradduck.
This pastor is encouraging others when it comes to literacy with a book he wrote called, "I Believe I Can Fly."
The pastor says, "It was a long road. I still haven't reached the end of it. My spelling is terrible."
He hopes this book will inspire everyone to reach for their dreams.
He also adds it's his faith that has helped him accomplish so much.
"I couldn't have done it without the Lord," says Dr. Cradduck.
Dr. Cradduck is the pastor of Family Worship Center in Oklahoma City.
He's been the pastor of the church for 25 years.
This is the first book he's written but he hopes to write more in the future.
